English George II Mahogany Armchair
Circa 1740. The shaped crest rail centered by a scallop shell flanked by scrolled foliage, above a vasiform splat with shaped stiles and arms, above a shaped drop in seat upholstered in contemporary floral needlework against a light blue ground, on carved cabriole legs headed by a scallop shell and scrolled brackets on claw and ball feet.
